Fall/Winter 2015-2016 Trends

With autumn here winter is just around the corner so let's leave aside summer 2016 Fashion Week a little bit to review the trends of this season.                                                                                             

ES: Con el otoño recién llegado y el invierno comenzando en unos meses, dejamos un rato de lado la Fashion Week del verano 2016 para repasar las tendencias de esta temporada que viene.

swinging sixties

The 60s are back and with them culottes, high-knee boots, straight dresses and the innocent look that was so popular at the time. Prada, Valentino, Lanvin and Dolce & Gabbana were some of those who recreated that era.

ES: Los años 60' están de vuelta y con ellos los culottes, botas altas, vestidos de corte recto y una imagen de inocente. Prada, Valentino, Lanvin y Dolce & Gabbana fueron algunos de los que apostaron por esta época.

the seventies are back too

Another decade that keeps ongoing from the summer is the 70s. The bohemian look, fringes, suede and an ode to nature are the latest fashion statement, or at least according to Michael Kors, Bottega Veneta and Roberto Cavalli, to name a few.

ES: Otra década que vuelve, al igual que en el verano, son los 70'. El look bohemio, los flecos, gamuzas y una oda a lo natural son el último grito de la moda, o por lo menos así lo muestran Michael Kors, Bottega Veneta y Roberto Cavalli, por nombrar algunos.

animal print

The animal print is something that we see a lot in winter and this season is no exception, either in coats, skirts or accessories brands like Tom Ford, Miu Miu and Marni made it part of their collection.

ES: Las estampas de animales se ven bastante en invierno y esta temporada no es la excepción, ya sea en abrigos, faldas o accesorios marcas como Tom Ford, Miu Miu y Marni lo hicieron parte de su colección.

checkered checkered

Just by watching Chanel's fashion show you can tell plaid will be one of the chosen prints to wear the upcoming months. We have seen them in several fabrics and different sizes, from the tweed suits designed by Karl Lagerfeld to Paul & Joe dresses and everywhere coats.

ES: Basta sólo con ver el desfile de Chanel para notar que el tartan será uno de los elegidos en estos meses de frío. Plasmado en distintas telas y diversos tamaños lo hemos visto en trajes de tweed como los diseñados por Karl Lagerfeld, vestidos en la pasarela de Paul & Joe y en abrigos por doquier.

florals

Flowers are no longer just for summer, this fall you will see them in every size, shape, and style. On sixties dresses, trousers, coats and even in the most fabulous jumpsuits. You can find some inspiration in the runways of Marni, Delpozo, Dolce & Gabbana and more.

ES: Los diseños florales ya no son exclusivos del verano, este otoño se llevan en todos los tamaños, colores y estilos. En vestidos tipo sixties, pantalones, tapados y hasta de pies a cabeza en los más fabulosos monos. Podemos encontrar inspiración en las pasadas de Marni, Delpozo y Dolce & Gabbana, entre otras.

fringes

Along with the 70s fringes are back and in excess, on every size and shade this season we wear them from head to toes. Or at least that's what we could see on the catwalks of Burberry Prorsum, Nina Ricci, Chloé, Tom Ford and others.

ES: De la mano de los '70 vuelven los flecos ¡y en exceso! de varios tamaños y en todas las gamas, esta temporada nos visten head-to-toes. Al menos eso es lo que pudimos observar en las pasarelas de Burberry Prorsum, Nina Ricci, Chloé, Tom Ford y demás.

fur fur, baby

There is nothing that represents winter more than fur, which keeps being on top as the years go by. This time, not only we can find it on coats but on vests, capes, stoles, accessories and even shoes. Just take a look at the collections of Altuzarra, Dior, Jason Wu and Louis Vuitton (to name a few) to see this trend at its best.

ES: Nada más representativo del invierno que las pieles, que siguen vigentes aunque pasen los años. Esta vez no sólo las podemos encontrar en abrigos sino que también las veremos en chalecos, capas, estolas, accesorios de todo tipo y hasta en zapatos. Tan sólo miren las colecciones de Altuzarra, Dior, Jason Wu y Louis Vuitton (por nombrar algunas) para ver esta trend en su máximo esplendor.

leather

One of the fabrics that appeared on almost every runway and has been strong for years now is leather, and now not only in coats and accessories. From Barbara Bui's dresses and the two-piece suits by Eudon Choi to Saint Laurent's skinny jeans and Elie Saab's gloves, leather plays a major role this winter.

ES: Una de las telas que invadió casi todas las pasarelas y viene pisando fuerte hace ya varios años es el cuero, y esta vez no sólo en abrigos y accesorios. Desde los vestidos de Barbara Bui y los conjuntos de chaqueta y pantalón de Eudon Choi hasta los skinnies de Saint Laurent y guantes de Elie Saab, el cuero es uno de los grandes protagonistas del invierno.

masculine tailoring 

If you like to borrow clothes from the boys then I have good news: masculine suits, jackets and pants are on trend, especially if they are oversized.

ES: Si sos de las que les gusta tomar ropa prestada de los hombres, entonces buenas noticias: los trajes, sacos y pantalones de tipo masculino están on trend, especialmente si son oversized.

patchwork  A so known technique that is commonly used in the craft area is applied to the fashion world by combining different fabrics and textures in one garment. Denim and suede are the most popular ones but fur and leather were also seen on several catwalks.                                   ES: Una técnica conocida y mayormente usada en el ámbito de las manualidades es llevada a la indumentaria combinando diversas telas y texturas en una misma prenda. El denim y la gamuza están entre las más populares pero también se vio en piel y cuero como las lucidas en la pasarela de Calvin Klein y Fendi.

capes & ponchos

Outerwear, outerwear... we saw a bunch of them but none more trendy than capes and ponchos. Colorful, monochromatic, with fringes, of suede, leather, and even patchwork, the possibilities are endless just like their combinations.

ES: Abrigos, abrigos, abrigos... los vimos de a montones pero ninguno más it que las capas y ponchos. Con flecos, monocromáticos, de colores, de gamuza, cuero y hasta con patchwork, las posibilidades son infinitas, al igual que sus combinaciones.

ruffles

A detail that brings us back to bygone eras and acts like an accessory by giving any piece of clothing an extra touch of movement and grace, is part of nowadays fashion.

ES: Volados, un detalle que nos remite a eras pasadas que sigue modernizándose y actúa como accesorio otorgándole al cualquier prenda un toque extra de gracia y movimiento.

suede

A fabric that has its heyday in the 70s returns in every possible garment and shade. Some of the collections in which we can find it are Ralph Lauren, Burberry Prorsum and Anthony Vaccarello.

ES: La gamuza, un material tan visto en los 70' regresa con todo, en variedad de tonos y prendas. Algunas de las colecciones en las que la podemos encontrar son: Ralph Lauren, Burberry Prorsum y Anthony Vaccarello.

transparencies

It has been a couple of seasons now that see-through materials started to appear and since then it hasn't stopped, either in a suggestive way like the dresses by Christopher Kane or more evidently as the tops from Gucci or Acne Studio. Anyway, you must be careful with this trend given that in excess it can look a little bit vulgar. 

ES: Hace ya un par de temporadas atrás comenzaron a verse las transparencias y desde entonces no han dejado de aparecer, ya sea en menor medida como en los sugerentes vestidos de Christopher Kane o más evidentes como los tops de Gucci o Acne Studio. Eso sí, hay que llevarlas con cautela ya que en exceso puede verse algo vulgar.

soft velvet

Smooth, luxurious and one of the most used textiles. Balmain, Topshop Unique, Antonio Marras and Emilio Pucci are just some of the many others who included it in their designs.

ES: Suave, lujoso y una de las telas más usadas por los diseñadores: Balmain, Topshop Unique, Antonio Marras y Emilio Pucci son algunos de los tantos otros que incluyeron el terciopelo en sus diseños.
