Couture Fashion Week Spring 2017 Review

The Haute Couture Fashion Week is over and now our eyes are in New York City, where in a few days the MBFW will take place. But first, let's review some of the highlighted shows of the most glamourous and luxurious week of all. 

ES: La semana de la moda de Alta Costura ha concluido y ahora todas nuestras miradas apuntan a la ciudad de New York, donde en poco días comenzará la MBFW de Otoño-Invierno 2017-18. Pero antes, repasemos algunos de los desfiles destacados de la semana más glamorosa y lujosa de todas.

Ralph & Russo

The British duo was one of my favourites. They showed us really feminine dresses full of tulle, transparencies, embellishment, ruffles and feathers in white, black, nude, silver and pastels.

ES: El dúo británico fue uno de mis preferidos con vestidos que derrochaban femineidad, tal como nos tienen acostumbrados, llenos de tul, transparencias, pedrería, volados y plumas en color blanco, negro, nude, plateado y tonos rosa y celeste pastel.

Atelier Versace

Inspired by the ancient Rome, Donatella Versace, chose to show her creations in a boutique instead of a runway. Natasha Polly and Kiki Willems posed for the lookbook in v-neck dresses, toga-like ones and long gowns ornamented with feathers, transparencies and a lot of draped.

ES: Inspirada en la antigua Roma, Donatella Versace, optó por mostrar las creaciones en su boutique en lugar de en una pasarela. Natasha Polly y Kiki Willems posaron para el lookbook en vestidos con escote en V, de tipo toga y otros más largos adornados con plumas, transparencias y mucho drapeado.

Chanel

A mix of tweed, feathers, transparencies and embellishments is what Lagerfeld's collection was all about. We saw them on deep-v-dresses, skirts, jacket and incredible pantsuits that were worn by the models in a side-part hairstyle, one of this year's beauty trends.
Last, to close the show, Karl choose Lilly Rosse Depp and a ruffled pink wedding gown, which was the most instagrammed moment of the show.

ES: Un mix de tweed, plumas, transparencias y pedrería, de eso se trató la colección de Lagerfeld. Las vimos en vestidos con pronunciados escotes en v, faldas, chaquetas e increíbles trajes que lucieron las modelos acompañados por una de las tendencias de belleza para este año, the side-part hair.

Elie Saab

He is known for his exquisite designs that are an ode to Haute Couture, he makes us dream season after season and this was not the exception. The models wore gowns filled with embellishment, embroidery, feathers and a lot of transparencies, all of them accentuating the waistline (another of this year's trends). For the modest clients, the designer showed two-piece suits and monos following the same aesthetic.

ES: Es conocido por sus exquisitos diseños que le hacen oda a la Alta Costura, nos hace soñar temporada tras temporada y esta vez no fue la excepción. Las modelos lucieron vestidos empapados en pedrería y delicados bordados, algunos adornados con plumas, muchas transparencias y todos remarcando la cintura (otra de las grandes tendencias de este año). Para las clientas más modestas el diseñador mostró trajes de dos piezas y monos, todos siguiendo la misma línea.

Christian Dior

For her first Couture collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri set up a garden where models come and gone in black, nude and white dresses with some sporadical appearance of greenery (the colour of the year according to Pantone), pink, purple, red and blue. For the fabrics, she chose a lot of tulle, velvet and satin. Not bad for a first impression, right?

ES: Para su primera colección Couture, Maria Grazia Chiuri montó un jardín donde las modelos iban y venían en vestidos negros, nude y blancos con algunas apariciones esporádicas en verde (el color del año según Pantone), rosa, violeta, azul y rojo. Las telas elegidas fueron el tul, satín y terciopelo. Nada mal para una primera impresión, no?
