Couture Fashion Week Spring 2015

MY PICKS The couture fashion week has ended, leaving us a sneak peek of what the well-known prêt-à-porter will bring us for the next season. As always, down below you will found the shows that I liked the most along with a little description.                                                                                                     

ES: La semana de la moda de alta costura ha concluido, dejándonos un pequeño adelanto que la tan conocida y masiva prêt-à-porter después nos mostrará. Como siempre, en Mursway, les traigo un resumen de las colecciones y shows que más gustaron.

Giorgio Armani could not have presented a better collection on the year of her 10th anniversary; bamboo leaves printed in long silk dresses, outfits in earthy and green tones paired up with obi belts and reeds of the same plant transported us to a (very) chic Asian wood. 

ES: Giorgio Armani no pudo haber presentado una mejor colección en el año de su décimo aniversario; estampados de hojas de bambú en largos vestidos de seda, conjuntos en tonos tierras y verdosos acompañados de cinturones obi y cañas de la misma planta adornando la pasarela nos trasladaron a un bosque asiático de lo más chic.

The bamboo theme was constant and not only it was represented in prints but also in various textures that appeared in the different culottes and tops and the combination of colours in the coats and jackets. ¡Bravo! ¡And for many more years!

ES: El tema del bambú fue constante y no sólo se vio representado en estampas, sino también en las diversas texturas que aparecían en los culottes o tops y en la combinación de colores de los diferentes abrigos y chaquetas. ¡Bravo! ¡Y por muchos diez años más!

In the other hand, the Lebanese designer Elie Saab seems to have been inspired by a not too distant past time gracing his dresses with delicate feathers, lace and transparencies besides its distinctive beads. Their colour scheme was in the shades of pink, black, grey and lime green, all in a subdued colour, which gave us the sensation of vintage that disappeared after seeing the innovative touch of the pockets on both sides. The old has never been so modern.

ES: Por otra parte, el libanés Elie Saab parece haberse inspirado en tiempos pasados no muy lejanos adornando sus vestidos con delicadas plumas, encaje y transparencias además de su distintiva pedrería. Los mismos se mantuvieron en la gama del rosa viejo, negro, gris y verde lima, todos con un tono apagado lo cual daba la sensación de vintage pero que desaparecía al ver el innovador toque de los bolsillos en ambos lados de los mismos. Lo antiguo nunca fue tan moderno.

In Dior's show Raf Simons did it again, with sixties style dresses, plastic floral coats and colourful patterned bodies  that seem to be out of the seventies, he surprised us and took us back to both decades. But although the clothes were amazing as always, the highlight were the high-knee vinyl boots that accompanied most of the outfits in colours like green, bordeaux, orange, black and blue. Undoubtedly one of his most lively collections.

ES: En el desfile de Dior, Raf Simons lo hizo nuevamente, con vestidos de estilo sixties, tapados de plástico florales y coloridos bodies con estampados que parecían salidos de los setenta, nos sorprendió e hizo regresar a ambas décadas. Y aunque las prendas eran asombrosas como siempre, lo más destacado fueron las botas caña alta de vinilo que acompañaron a la mayoría en colores como verde, bordeaux, naranja, negro y azul. Sin duda una de sus colecciones más animada hasta ahora.

Giambattista Valli is one of my favourites, with flowers as a banner he always finds the way to delight us with his designs. This time, he presented under-the-knee dresses layered over pants and other ones with flared skirts followed by Chanel-like-jackets and embroidered floral coats; all of them with some tulle, transparencies, beads, ruffles and even fur. Textures fans cannot complain!

ES: Giambattista Valli es uno de mis predilectos, teniendo las flores como estandarte siempre encuentra la forma de deleitarnos con sus diseños. Esta vez, presentó vestidos por debajo de la rodilla combinados con pantalones y otros de faldas acampanadas, a los cuales se les sumaron chaquetas de estilo Chanel y abrigos bordados con apliques florales; todos ellos con algo de tul, transparencias, pedrería, volados y hasta pieles ¡los fans de las texturas no se puede quejar!

The last show that I could not help but mention is the one by the dutch duo Viktor & Rolf, who amazed us with their irregular 3D dolly dresses that range from flowers that stick out of the dresses subtly to others that drifted off entirely ending in the big straw hats. Definitely, a couple who knows how to innovate.

ES: El último show que no podía dejar de mencionar es el del dúo holandés Viktor & Rolf, quienes nos maravillaron con sus dolly dresses irregulares en 3D que iban desde flores que sobresalían de los vestidos sutilmente hasta otras que terminaban directamente en los grandes sombreros de paja. Definitivamente un par que sabe cómo innovar.

As for beauty, the ponytail embellished with metallic circles at Christian Dior and the perfect skin with crimson lips makeup as seen in Chanel were the looks that I loved the most.

ES: En cuanto a belleza, el peinado con cola de caballo adornada con una arandela de Christian Dior y el maquillaje de piel perfecta y labios color carmín visto en Chanel fueron los que más me gustaron.

Last but not least, Maddison Brown stood out in Christian Dior's front row while Ben Foster and Robin Wright were the most elegant couple at Armani Privé.

ES: Por último, Maddison Brown se destacó en el front row de Christian Dior mientras que Ben Foster y Robin Wright fueron la pareja más elegante en el show de Armani Privé.
